Istanbul > About Istanbul > Aqueducts > Valens (Bozdoğan) Aqueduct

Valens (Bozdoğan) Aqueduct

The aqueduct is in İstanbul Saraçhane District. The construction started during the period of Constantinius the 1ST (306-337), and it was completed in 378, during the period of Emperor Valens. It used to tranfer the drinking water coming from Alibeyköy to the city. It is made of two rows of ducts. While it used to have a length of 1 km, now only a part of 800 m. survives.
