EVERYONE CAN SAIL IN THE BODRUM CUP WOODEN YACHT REGATTA !

Held annually since 1989 during every 3rd week each October, this fun event is a chance to take part in a sailing race in Turkey's wonderful southwestern waters where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean. Imagine a horizon filled with sails billowing on a fleet of traditionally-built wooden yachts, sparkling blue seas parted by their bows and dolphins racing playfully along. Imagine each night in a different anchorage under a brilliant canopy of stars in merry company of other rovers. That is the essence of the Bodrum Cup Regatta; the mundane details follow:

REGATTA CATEGORIES

1- TRADITIONAL WOODEN YACHTS IN GENERAL, high displacement cruising yachts built with tradational materials and methods. (Subdivided by length)

2- CLASSIC WOODEN YACHTS IN GENERAL, yachts classified classic in international terminology. This category includes yachts of significntly lighter displacement than the above and built for speed. (Subdivided by length)

3- MODERN YACHTS OF WOODEN CONSTRUCTION CRUISING YACHTS BUILT WITH MODERN MATERIALS AND METHODS IN ORDER TO ATTAIN LOWER DISPLACEMENT, AS WELL AS YACHTS BUILT FOR RACING PURPOSES AS DEFINED BY ISAF. (Subdivided by length)

4- YACHTS OF NON-WOODEN CONSTRUCTION as guest status, ineligible for prizes.
