Secret Garden has got to be one
of the best restaurants in BodrumNow
in it’s sixth year it has won the reputation for excellent cuisine and
the warmest possible welcome. The modern Mediterranean style food
prepared by the English owner-chef, Helen, is both beautiful and
colourful, often original and always totally delicious.

The
menu includes such delights as moules marinieres, frogs legs in
garlic butter, hot tomato tarts with rocket salad, stuffed sea
bream with fresh spinach, tender filet steak with roasted
tomatoes, rabbit in a cream, white wine and mustard sauce,
confit of duck and slow cooked lamb. |

The fabulous
desserts include white and dark chocolate mouuse with whipped
cream, creme brullée,the
now totally famous chocolate nemesis as well as flambée bananas
with cardomom icecream.
Everything is homemade, including the ravioli, bread and
chocolate truffles and most of the produce comes daily from one
of the local markets. All dishes are available ‘a la carte’ or
as part of a four course menu which is priced around $25.

The
extensive wine list gives you a chance to try wines from all
over Turkey, some that you are unlikely to find anywhere else
and also offers some fabulous wines from France, Italy, Chile
and Australia. Prices range from around $10 to $100 a bottle.

The
service is excellent, the music is soothing and to top it all,
the chairs with their brightly coloured cushions are exceedingly
comfortable. On cooler evenings in early spring or late autumn,
the cosy inside restaurant has a fire. For the hot Bodrum nights
the garden offers a cool calm oasis in which to indulge your
senses. Secret Garden in it’s wonderfully romantic setting can
be found up the small street opposite the Marina. |
